KHFC vs Newport County – KHIST POTM Man of the Match – Vote Now!

Harriers kept their fantastic Blue Square Bet Premier run alive yesterday at Aggborough, as Jamille Matt fired the hosts to a thrilling 3-2 victory over title-chasing Newport County.

It was Danny Pilkington who set up Harriers’ opener, chipping over Alan Julian in the Exiles’ goal for Matt to head home from close range, but a two-goal salvo from Michael Smith and Lee Evans put the visitors ahead at half-time.

An incredible second-half reponse from Harriers saw Mickey Demetriou’s cross find Matt, who directed his looping header over Julian before completing his hat-trick with a close-range effort, again with his head, from Lee Vaughan’s pinpoint centre. Ironically, it was the first home hat-trick at Aggborough since the corresponding fixture last season when Nick Wright’s unforgettable late treble saw us beat County by the same scoreline.

So yet another breathtaking afternoon in DY10, but who was your Star Man? Of course Matt will grab the headlines but Steve Burr was understandably delighted at a real ‘team’ performance.
