KHIST – 2018 Charity Walk

In March 2018, our members will, once again, be getting their walking boots on when, together with other Harriers’ fans, we’ll be walking for charity.

This will be the fourth and, what certainly promises to be the most ambitious, charity walk organised on our behalf, to date! Those of us who have taken part in previous years will remember:-

  • It all started back in 2013 when about 50 KHFC fans walked the 65 miles to Forest Green Rovers, over two days. The chosen charity that year was ‘Macmillan Cancer Support’ and the walk was in memory of former KHIST Chairman, Steve Millington.

  • In 2014, a similar sized group walked 29 miles to Telford United, in just one day, for the local, baby loss charity ‘Towards Tomorrow Together’.

  • Then, last year, another group of 50 walked to Cheltenham over two days, for the ‘Queen Elizabeth Hospital’ and, even after that magnificent effort, managed a game of football against the Gloucester City Supporters Trust.

  • The next walk will certainly be the most ambitious. The group is planning to walk to Alfreton (Derbyshire). Plans are being made for the walkers to leave Aggborough on Thursday 15th March and walk the 80 plus miles, over three days, to arrive in time for the Harriers’ fixture on the Saturday. This time, the walk will be in aid of the ‘British Heart Foundation’ – undoubtedly a worthy cause, for which Dave Hall, known to many fans as a Harriers season ticket holder, is actively involved in Worcestershire. Dave has been a support driver at all three of our previous walks.

Our ambition this time is to exceed the target of £100,000 of donations raised for charities over the four walks. That would be a fantastic achievement. by Kidderminster Harriers Supporters and something for which we could all be very proud.

If you would like to join the walk, you’re invited to contact co-organiser, Dave Pountney, via djmpountney@gmail.com to register interest. You’ll be welcome to take part for the whole of the walk or to join in en route, on the Friday or Saturday, as you wish.

Further bulletins will follow on this website.
