Fans Day Report
On Saturday the KHIST fans team held their annual fundraiser at Aggborough Stadium. Started in 2008 the event has raised a considerable amount of money and Saturday was no different with over £6500 generated!
The Harriers fans team have used over 50 players during the season and so were split into three different teams during the day, and were given the chance to grace the Aggborough turf.
The first game kicked off at 10am and the first KHIST fans team took on the Red Brigade Harriers supporters group. It was certainly an entertaining game to start the day with the lead changing hands on numerous occasions. Lewis Pountney (2), Lee Williamson and Darren Williamson got the KHIST goals but this was not enough as the KHIST team suffered a 5-4 defeat.
At 1pm and the highlight of the day Adie Smith took control of a Harriers legends side that included Steve Pope, Lee Hughes, Darren Steadman, Wayne Hatswell, Scott Stamps, Les Hines, Kim Casey, Steve Taylor, Ian Foster, Dean Bennett, Craig Hinton, Leroy May. Also present for the day were Mick Touhy, Richard Forsyth and Neil Howarth.
KHFC Chairman Rod Brown gave the fans team teamtalk and first team players Kennedy Digie and Luke Maxwell took the ‘warm up’ but the KHIST team were in for a long afternoon!
The KHIST team conceded early as Steve Taylor scored for the legends from close range. Lee Hughes tormented the fans team defence all afternoon and he was soon brought down in the box. Ian Foster easily scored from the resulting penalty.
Second half goals from Lee Hughes, Dean Bennett and Steve Taylor gave the legends a comfortable 5-0 victory as the fans team rarely threatened a legends defence that included Hatswell, Hinton and Stamps! However it was an enjoyable game watched by a good crowd inside Aggborough.
The final Harriers fans team took on the Hereford Supporters Trust. The KHIST team put in a great performance to race in to a two goal lead through Tom Ferguson and Marc Vaughan. Tom’s goal being one of the best finishes seen at Aggborough this season!
A second half goal from Cayden May (Leroys son) gave the KHIST team a comfortable 3-0 victory.
On the evening the players retired to the Aggborough Suite bar to reflect on a fantastic day. Mark Young and Adam Matthews picked up player of the season awards.
It was a great day of football with a good crowd inside Aggborough and a substantial amount raised. It was fantastic to see so many former players back at Aggborough and its hoped that similar can be arranged next season.
