KHIST Statement
A statement from the Kidderminster Harriers Independent Supporters Trust (KHIST), published with the full backing and endorsement of Kidderminster Harriers Football Club.
KHIST are delighted that, following discussions with Kidderminster Harriers Football Club over the last few months, a fans’ representative has agreed to join the Club’s Board of Directors.
We have worked closely with the Club since last November. Throughout this period we have maintained that one of our primary aims would be to gain board representation and give supporters a voice in the running of our football club.
We have held ongoing discussion since Karl Davies resigned his position back in June due to increased work commitments. Following a democratic vote, the KHIST Board has elected John Davies (pictured) as our supporters’ representative.
61 year-old John has followed Harriers since he was a youngster and has been actively involved with the Club during the last ten years as both a supporter and major sponsor. The well-known local businessman, who runs Hire-It! on the Worcester Road, Kidderminster, is a keen sponsor of the Club and its youth football.
Speaking about joining the Club Board, John commented: “I am proud that KHIST approached me and I was impressed with what was achieved last year in helping the Club financially and raising its profile.
“Myself and the KHIST Board can’t do it all on our own, though, and we will be looking for our members to get more involved. Actions speak louder than words. This is a big opportunity for supporters to get involved with their local club and I am looking forward to the challenge.”
Harriers Chairman, Mark Serrell added: “John is somebody who has never made a secret of his passion and support for this Club, as a Board, we are delighted to welcome him as the fans’ representative from KHIST.
“He has tremendous energy and drive and it is certainly fair to say that in John, KHIST have someone on the Board of Directors at the club who will always have their interest at heart – something we all share.”
We are sure all members will join the KHIST Board in wishing him well in his new role and we hope to soon announce a meeting to discuss how we move forward.
We encourage members to send in their questions and ideas so that we can raise them on your behalf and improve communication between both parties via the member’s section on our website.
The Club still needs its supporters to actively get involved and we appeal to our members for their continued support. The KHIST Board is low on numbers and, if you feel you can help, please get in touch with KHIST Chairman Dave Pountney.
