The Annual KHIST Foodbank Collection

The Trust has recently announced having agreed with the Kidderminster Foodbank that our plans for a food collection, on their behalf, so soon after this weekend’s KHFC arrangement, would be unlikely to achieve the successes of our previous events. It had been decided therefore that we should cancel our own plans with a view to agreeing on a more suitable date.

We had considered re-arranging the collection for the date of the Harriers’ last home match of the season, in April. We have, however, since contacted Martin Lewis to find out what’s best for the foodbank and understand there can be a shortage of food stocks in the period before local schools celebrate their Harvest Festivals. It’s now been agreed therefore, to postpone until the Autumn. The actual date – which will be in early to mid-September – is to be decided in July, when next season’s fixture list has been published.

As always, we will be reliant on volunteers and the generosity of the local community.

Traditionally, we have had our annual foodbank collections prior to Christmas but, without home fixtures during the early Festive Season we recently had no alternative than to postpone our plans. Depending on a successful event in September, we may consult with Martin and Maureen Lewis to decide if we should arrange our future events in the Autumn, when it seems that shortages are not uncommon.

We will, of course, keep members informed.
