Dave’s 2019 JDRF Challenge
As explained in a post to this website on 4th January, Dave Pountney is undertaking an exhaustive sequence of events in 2019, for the benefit of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). This deserving charity is in need of support for its efforts to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes….. You can find Dave’s story in that earlier post. We have now agreed to follow his ‘Challenge’ throughout the year and to keep his supporters updated.
Dave completed the Gloucester Half Marathon on Sunday and, at the same time achieved a personal best time of 1 hour 37 minutes and 46 seconds. That enabled him to finish in a very creditable 153rd place out of a massive 722 runners. Dave is shown below with fellow Harriers fan, Ian Danby, having just received their medals.
Next up for Dave is the Olympic Park Half Marathon, on Sunday, 10th February, and we wish him well with his preparations. Details of his ongoing commitments are:
10th February – Olympic Park Half Marathon
17th March – Gloucester 20 Mile Race
7th April – Manchester Marathon
19th May – Worcester Marathon
21st-23rd June – Three Peaks Challenge
24th August – Blackpool Run the Lights 10K
21st-22nd September – Equinox 24 Hour Race
13th October – Birmingham Half Marathon
Dave has asked us to thank everyone who has so far sponsored his ‘Challenge’, which has got off to an excellent start, and we hope to persuade others to support his appeal.
