KHFC vs Tamworth – KHIST POTM Man of the Match – Vote Now!
Harriers kept up the pressure in the title race at the summit of the Blue Square Bet Premier yesterday, after coming from behind to beat Tamworth 4-1 at Aggborough.
Adam Cunnington, the top-scorer in the BSBP, showed why he is having such a good season leading the line for the Lambs when his sidefoot volley gave the visitors the lead, after his original flick had been cleared by the head of Mickey Demetriou. And it took a while for the Harriers to get a foothold on the game, until Danny Pilkington’s excellent cross fell invitingly for Lee Vaughan, whose shot was parried by ex-Harriers custodian Tony Breeden, however the absent defence were punished as Keith Briggs fired home the rebound.
The hosts took the lead on the stroke of half-time as Pilkington curled home an excellent free-kick which left Breeden helpless, to put Harriers ahead at the break. And they showed their superiority in the second period. Josh Gowling’s header was eventually bundled over the line in a crowd of players by Michael Gash, as the loanee scored on his home debut, and he doubled his tally when Vaughan’s pinpoint cross from the right saw him expertly place his header past Breeden.
So Harriers consolidated their third-placed position in the table this weekend, three points behind leaders Mansfield Town ahead of Tuesday’s tricky trip to fellow challengers Newport County. But who was your Star Man at Aggborough yesterday? Vote using the form below now!
