Dave’s 2019 JDRF Challenge (update 2)
Our friend and KHIST board member, Dave Pountney has now completed two legs of his 9 event challenge, after running in the Olympic Park Half Marathon on Sunday. Having already achieved a personal best time of 1 hour, 37 minutes and 46 seconds in the Gloucester Half Marathon on 20th January, he’s now set a new time of 1 hour 37 minutes and 23 seconds. He tells us that whilst it was “a really enjoyable race” it was run “in difficult conditions”, so he’s to be congratulated on recording yet another ‘PB’.
Dave, pictured here in his JDRF shirt, will next be in action on Sunday 17th March, when he’ll be taking on the Gloucester 20 Mile Race and, in the meantime, he’ll no doubt be seen toning up in the Wyre Forest locality. We wish him well with his preparations.
Dave’s Challenge over the next few months will include:-
7th April – The Manchester Marathon
19th May – The Worcester Marathon
21st-23rd June – The Three Peaks Challenge
24th August – The Blackpool Run the Lights 10K
21st-22nd September – The Equinox 24 Hour Race
13th October – The Birmingham Half Marathon
Dave’s motive in undertaking this exhaustive sequence of events is to raise much needed funding for the benefit of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) in their efforts to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes and, he is already one third of the way to achieving his £1000 target. He wants us to thank all those who have, so far, sponsored his appeal, and we hope to persuade others to offer their support.
