Forest Green Sponsored Walk in Steve Millington’s Honour To Raise Money For Macmillan’s
FOREST GREEN SPONSORED WALK
I am sure you are all aware of the sad passing of a true “Harrier”, Steve Millington. For many people Steve was the driving force of KHIST and it was his drive and enthusiasm that helped to rescue the club during it’s darkest financial days. We are all devastated by Steve’s untimely passing and will miss his infectious humour and his drive and vision.
To honour the memory of our dear friend and fellow “Harrier”, we will be tackling a walk to Forest Green Rovers (near Stroud), starting on Monday 7th April from Aggborough Stadium home of Kidderminster Harriers FC and concluding on the 8th, in time for the game that evening.
The walk of 65 miles will largely follow the River Severn route. The first evening we are planning an overnight stop in Tewkesbury. At the time of writing we have over 20 members of KHIST signed up to tackle this challenge.
It was Steve’s wish that that we raise money for Macmillan. Steve received tremendous support from this organisation and it is only fitting that we aim to raise a substantial sum of money for the wonderful work Macmillan do.
Macmillan are a registered charity. Their aim is to improve the lives of those affected by cancer. They provide practical, medical, emotional and financial support and push for better cancer care. One in three of us will get cancer. Two million of us are living with it. With the efforts of the walkers we can help Macmillan in their quest to further help all cancer sufferers.
We have set a target of £1000.But we would love to beat this target out of sight. With your help i know we can do this. This would be a fitting memorial to our dear friend and great “Harrier”, Steve.
There are a number of ways you can donate. The most simple way is through the “JustGiving” page on the Macmillan website. This is simple, fast and totally secure. This will also save valuable costs for the charity. Here is the link..
Alternatively you donate by texting the message KHFC65 and the amount you wish to donate to 70070.
Please give generously. This is a challenging walk by anyone’s standards. Please support the the walkers and help us to achieve our target.
