KHFC vs Alfreton Town – KHIST POTM Man of the Match – Vote Now!
Relentless Harriers kept up the pressure at the top of the Blue Square Bet Premier with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Alfreton Town at Aggborough yesterday, moving into second place in the table.
It took only 55 seconds for the host to break the deadlock as Amari Morgan-Smith netted his first goal for the Harriers, with a cool close range finish after controlling Ricky Shakes’ long ball via the head of a visiting defender.
Alfreton pegged Harriers back though when former Aggborough man Dan Bradley crossed for the unmarked Ben Tomlinson to head past Danny Lewis, but the advantage was soon restored when Kyle Storer’s deft free-kick was nodded home by Josh Gowling who ghosted through the visiting defence.
Marvin Johnson’s superb cross was expertly volleyed home by the in-form Anthony Malbon to make it 3-1 at the break and that’s the way it stayed, despite Town being reduced to ten men in the second half when Theo Streete was sent off for a challenge on Gowling.
