KHFC vs Barrow – KHIST POTM Man of the Match – Vote Now!
Harriers picked up their first victory of 2013 on Saturday with a 2-0 win over bottom-side Barrow, keeping them very much in the Blue Square Bet Premier Play-Off chase.
After the defeat to local rivals Hereford United on New Years Day it was important that Harriers got back into the groove swiftly, and it took only three minutes for the hosts to break the deadlock when Cookley-hitman Ryan Rowe curled home a left-footed effort, after some impressive build-up play and a neat lay-off from the returning Callum Gittings.
Harriers couldn’t quite add to the advantage though despite sustained possession, and it took until the 83rd minute for them to double their lead, Gittings again the provider as Jamille Matt, fresh from extending his contract a few days earlier, nodding the cross into the top-corner and making the game safe.
Josh Gowling, who also recently put to pen to paper on a new deal, was named the Sponsors’ Man of the Match on Saturday and also made a crucial goal-line clearance when the score was 1-0.
