KHFC vs Ebbsfleet United – KHIST POTM Man of the Match – Vote Now!
Harriers moved level on points with promotion rivals Wrexham at the top of the Blue Square Bet Premier table yesterday with a 3-2 victory over struggling Ebbsfleet United at Aggborough.
It wasn’t the perfect start for the hosts when Dammy Shitta saw his shot only half-stopped by Danny Lewis, with it creeping over the line under the attention of the Harriers defence. But it took only 60 seconds for Kiddy to get back on level terms when the Fleet defence failed to deal with a Marvin Johnson cross, and after a poor punch from ‘keeper Preston Edwards, James Vincent was on hand to fire in a deflected shot from six yards.
Harriers took the lead for the first time in the game just after the hour mark when Mickey Demetriou’s long clearance enticed Edwards out of his box, only for Anthony Malbon, who was presented with the KHIST Player of the Month Award before kick-off, to nip in between ‘keeper and defender, running the ball wide and finishing superbly from a wide angle.
It looked as though Harriers had put the icing on the cake for another three points when substitute Ryan Rowe combined with fellow replacement Callum Gittings to fire in a beautifully struck low drive to make it 3-1, but a soft penalty awarded against Josh Gowling saw Nathan Elder reduce the arrears. A nervy last few moments ensued but the win sent Harriers joint top of the league with a sixteenth victory in eighteen games.
