A Nostalgic Evening at the Aggborough Suite
25-Year Anniversary Celebration of the Kidderminster Harriers Squad of 1999/2000
Last night (7th March 2025), the Aggborough Suite was filled with a sense of nostalgia and camaraderie as Kidderminster Harriers celebrated the 25th anniversary of their legendary 1999/2000 squad.
This historic event celebrated a team that began the season as underdogs, having ended the previous two seasons in 15th and 17th place, respectively. Despite a challenging start to the campaign with three consecutive losses, Jan Mølby managed to build a squad with remarkable team spirit. By early January, they climbed to the top of the league and maintained their position, ultimately winning the title with an extraordinary display of football.
The evening commenced with former Harriers’ Chairman Lionel Newton sharing the story of how he successfully convinced Jan Mølby to join the club. He was accompanied by Jan and his assistant manager, Garry Barnett.
Among the players who took to the stage to share their stories were Craig Hinton, Adi Smith, Ian Clarkson, Tim Clarke, Ian Foster, Stewart Hadley, and Paul Webb. Also present were Dean Bennett and then club physio Jim Conway.
The highlights of the evening were Ian Foster, who captivated the audience with his stories from that season, and Jan Mølby, whose ‘encyclopedic like’ knowledge of the promotion campaign shone as he recounted the journey that led the club to achieve Football League status for the first time in its history
Further celebrations to pay tribute to the promotion squad are planned for today’s game against Scarborough Athletic, with several of the 1999/2000 squad members in attendance.
